Swords and Shovels
Tom Johnston shares with us about Nehemiah 4:1-23. When Nehemiah is faced with both political and physical opposition he prays for God to deal with it; he doesn’t argue and deal with it at a human level. Nehemiah encouraged the people who were rebuilding to trust the Lord AND prepare to fight for the lives of their families – he didn’t let go of the vision.
Jack Brady shares some personal stories that are similar to what Nehemiah had gone through. He tells of how the Lord challenged and strengthened him when the plans which he had were not enough to complete the work. When faced with adversity we must hold onto the vision that God has given us; we have to protect the vision and do the work which is of that vision.
Tom returns to give us encouragement that the vision God has for us needs our active involvement; we should NOT EVER give in to the opposition we face while pursuing His vision for our lives and for the lives of the people around us!
